What’s this role about?

We are currently looking for a Regional Director of Business Development for MBaaS in the Australian market.

  • The successful candidate for this role will be tasked with driving GridBeyond’s growth related to revenue optimisation products that relate to renewable energy projects, primarily BESS across Australia through direct channels to project developers and project owners
  • The roles principal focus will be to secure new contracts to manage energy flows in and out of large-scale storage that optimise financial outcomes within project and grid connection constraints. Managing the energy flows will be through GridBeyond’s proprietary AI driven technology that Forecasts energy an ancillary market pricing, Optimises revenues through real time trading decisions across multiple coincident energy markets, with an option to use our native Auto Bidding technology to execute trades.
  • The key product focus will be our MBaaS solution – managed batteries as a service offering, that comprises a suite of cloud-based software tools, that can be employed as a suite or part thereof depending on customer requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to draw up sales plans to target and win service agreements across Australia. Target customers will typically be large scale BESS project developers, project owners and hardware providers.
  • Work closely with the broader business development team to strategize and effectively target new customers and project portfolios
  • This will be achieved through sector specific targeting and strategic account targeting, utilising account plans with top 10’s continuously worked and recycled, supported by marketing and business development teams.
  • Would be advantageous to have experience of selling projects with an energy-based value proposition directly to large scale BESS project developers or project owners

What will I be doing?

Responsibilities include:

  • Directly developing, managing and taking ownership for the sales pipeline
  • Market engagement, organizing sales meetings with prospects and clients, key stakeholders, and other market participants to influence and identify opportunities to secure new business and expand the value of existing business.
  • Managing partners, and key stakeholders to support growth within specific sectors or regions
  • Working with other key stakeholders within the GridBeyond business to support the on boarding of new business ensuring a smooth transition from sales, through deployment and onto account management.
  • The successful candidate will require a ‘hunter’ mentality to drive forward the new business pipeline to successfully sell GridBeyond’s optimization solutions
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision makers and manage relationships with senior stakeholders using recognizable engagement mapping techniques such as Miller Heiman, MEDDICC or equivalent.
  • Supporting and progressing the development of market solutions in collaboration with key internal stakeholders
  • Building and developing strategic analysis of the target market and sectors and delivering propositions based on this analysis.
  • Develop and lead key strategic meetings and webinars, events and seminars relating to subject and sales topic.
  • Ensure CRM system (salesforce) is fully updated and all information pertaining to sales leads and activity is entered at least weekly.
  • Run through Geographically specific planning calls and weekly sales reviews from CRM database highlighting risks and opportunities from activity entered into the CRM system.
  • Ensure that all monthly sales review material is in place to present to the Senior Leadership team to evaluate at monthly sales reviews and at 6m/12m reviews.
  • Work with marketing and other key stakeholders to prepare communications and collateral, drawing information from reports and providing insight into industry advancements to GridBeyond Directors and other internal stakeholders
  • Host webinars and present at seminars and exhibitions – be a trusted advisor and knowledge base for the focus segments.

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

  • A strong understanding of the Australian energy markets, and the project development cycle.
  • A good industry network of key stakeholders within project developers and project owners.
  • You’ll be working fairly autonomously in a ‘start-up’ type environment so you should be comfortable with being a self-starter and upwardly managing.
  • Significant experience working in a sales and a commercial capacity.
  • Commercial aptitude, with experience contributing to business strategy by identifying and pursuing market opportunities.
  • The ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders including those in sales and operational functions and most importantly to board level with actionable summary reporting.
  • Ideally knowledge of BESS storage and the sales process for large scale projects

  • The successful individual will feel comfortable within a fast paced, engaging, technology scale up and will have the ability to work flexibly across a range of responsibilities.
  • Ability to distil large documents, publications, training material into key strategic and commercial takeaways for management.

What’s this role about?

The following position will work within GridBeyond’s Market Optimisation team and will help GridBeyond provide its customers with a route to market to monetise flexibility and generation in all available energy markets and ancillary services. The role involves a close working relationship with our clients and our market Optimisation team requiring successful candidates to be involved in Optimisation and execution of trading strategies while ensuring all customer sites are responding to grid services. Successful candidates will also be involved in development of solutions, tools and reports whilst providing ongoing analysis of markets. This is a 24/7 shift work position enabling GridBeyond to cover ancillary and energy markets in Ireland, the UK, the US, Australia and Japan.

What will I be doing?

  • Provide 24/7 monitoring on all our grid services live across the day for our diverse portfolio across Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and Japan. Understanding what is happening, being prepared to act when required depending on scenario, understanding when an issue has occurred and what to do with it.
  • Optimising our portfolio in ancillary services (frequency, reserve) and energy markets. Analysing market dynamics, defining short term trading strategies. Trade execution and both, financial and physical management of our asset’s positions.
  • Support and drive GridBeyond’s entry into new ancillary services and power markets. Understand market structure, analyse potential opportunities and definition and execution of trading strategies.
  • Assessing and dealing with alarms taking ownership and responsibility to solve them in a timely fashion.
  • Dealing with customer requests (report config, setpoint changes, schedule changes etc).
  • Support GridBeyond smart grid services; application processes, generating and carrying out weekly and real-time declarations, declaration analysis, dispatch management, site/application alarms and generating customer statements.
  • Contacting customers to ensure we have dispatch and engagement info up to date and that customers themselves are ready for dispatches.
  • Ensuring we are always ready to deliver a dispatch to answer the needs of the Grid. Having procedures and staff at the ready to deliver.
  • Monitoring delivery performance of services on an ongoing basis and preparing performance reports as required by grid operators.
  • Develop understanding of customer sites, assets, and control techniques for current live sites
  • Reporting unit performance and alarms to business on weekly basis.
  • Carrying out energy analysis on customer data to determine efficiency savings, site energy usage issues and additional savings opportunities for both Ireland and UK clients.
  • Cite-See (GridBeyond’s head end controller) support for deployment team.
  • Centre-See and Customer Portal configuration and support for existing customer base.
  • Provide feedback to the development team on tools and services to assist with energy analysis.
  • Assist in the development of clients net zero strategy across numerous industries.
  • Assist with the integration and carbon impact of new renewable technology solutions.
  • Assist in the development of feasibility studies.
  • Other activities and new service offerings that may arise as the role develops

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

  • Engineering degree (L7 or L8) or equivalent
  • Understanding of trading, specifically energy trading a preference but not a requirement
  • Good understanding of energy usage, energy billing across industrial and commercial retail buildings
  • Interest in sustainability, renewable technologies, and carbon neutrality
  • Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster a plus
  • Strong communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Produce presentations and reports to a professional standard
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative

As the Global Head of Finance at GridBeyond, you will be responsible for steering the Group’s financial strategy, planning, and operations to support our goal of advancing sustainable energy. Your duties will include overseeing financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management across all regions, ensuring the company’s financial stability and strategic expansion. This position calls for an experienced finance professional with deep knowledge of the energy industry, an innovative mindset, and the capability to thrive in a dynamic, global organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the global financial strategy aligned with GridBeyond’s business objectives.
  • Develop and supervise creation of complex financial models, valuation analysis, investment memos, board materials and other presentations.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership to support decision-making and growth initiatives.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Lead Group tax planning and structuring initiatives.

Financial Operations & Reporting:

  • Supervise and control the process flow, from the structuring of an analytical accounting and reporting model to the budgeting and monitoring company performance including the production and evolution of KPI reporting packs, as well as supporting the corporate strategy.
  • Oversee a team to ensure monthly financial reporting accuracy and compliance in line with international standards, local regulations and shareholder requirements.
  • Prepare the annual budget through strong relationships with business leaders.
  • Manage financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely completion of consolidated and statutory financial statements.
  • Manage monthly KPI reporting and presentation to board members.

 

Regional & Global Coordination:

  • Collaborate with regional finance teams to ensure consistent financial practices and compliance.
  • Support expansion into new markets with financial due diligence and planning.
  • Monitor and optimise global cash flow, working capital, and funding strategies.
  • Responsibility for Finance systems and evolution of same.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, including currency, credit, and operational and tax risks.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Implement effective internal controls and governance frameworks.
  • Compliance responsibility with all external financial, tax and regulatory bodies, ensuring the company is fully compliant with all relevant laws, accounting standards and filing requirements.

 

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Communicate financial results and strategies clearly to stakeholders, including investors, partners, and board members.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Big 4 trained with strong academic credentials. Expertise in IFRS and consolidated accounts.
  • Proven experience as a senior finance leader, ideally as Head of Finance in the energy, technology, or cleantech sectors.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, and modelling skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing global finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Expertise in legal, tax and corporate matters.
  • Analytical and able to synthesize complex or diverse information, with a high degree of personal accountability.
  • Organized, energetic and self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience in leading and managing a team with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in scaling companies and managing cross-border financial activities.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PPT etc.. to produce presentations and reports to a professional standard for board level reporting.
  • Exposure to the energy sector, international smart grid markets and expertise in flexibility would be preferable though not essential.

What’s this role about?

We are seeking a temporary Project Manager to lead the delivery of our Behind-the-Meter (BTM) software development projects. This role is assigned to cover someone’s maternity leave and is focused on ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact technology solutions that align with market demands and meet end-user needs.

As part of the Product Development Team, the Project Manager will oversee key software development initiatives, working closely with internal stakeholders—including product owners, business analysts, architects, software engineers, and QA teams—in a fast-paced Agile environment. This role will play a crucial part in advancing GridBeyond’s Smart Grid Platform, utilizing industry-standard tools and methodologies to manage changing business requirements and deliver innovative solutions to our customers during this temporary assignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the team to successfully execute project plans, including delegating tasks during bi-weekly development sprints, maintaining ongoing communication and progress reports with stakeholders, and identifying and addressing project risks as needed.
  • Analyse requirements from internal departments and external industry clients to define the technical and business scope of projects.
  • Collaborate with development team members to translate requirements into detailed technical and functional specifications, ensuring the chosen solutions align with business needs.
  • Identify, size, and plan resources required for project execution.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Management, IT, Regulatory, Sales, and Marketing—as well as external partners, to ensure the successful delivery of projects and product launches.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience managing and delivering significant software development projects.
  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives, from planning and resource allocation through testing and final deployment.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects concurrently using Agile methodologies, including bi-weekly sprint planning, to meet deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of software development processes
  • Strong organizational, planning, and risk management capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, both internally and externally.
  • Self-driven with a commitment to continuous learning and a keen eye for detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or certification in Information Technology, Software Development, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related energy fields is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and technical concepts.

 

Additional Experience (Beneficial but Not Essential):

  • Project Management certifications such as PRINCE2 or PMP.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com project management tools.
  • Background in hardware development projects.
  • Industry experience in energy sectors, with a passion for energy sustainability and innovation.
