Business development managers play a crucial role in driving the growth of a company. They build a network of contacts to attract new clients, explore new market opportunities, and manage growth initiatives. Their responsibilities include making sales forecasts and projecting revenue in alignment with expected income.

This position requires a confident and proactive individual who is an effective listener and comfortable engaging with senior leadership. They should be assertive in seeking and securing business, dedicated to fulfilling customer needs, and capable of collaborating effectively with a team of sales managers in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated success in navigating complex sales processes will be essential for consulting with our Demand Response clients and creating tailored proposals to address their specific energy management requirements.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Spearheading the creation of a comprehensive sales pipeline and business proposals aimed at promoting Demand Response programs to major energy consumers in the SPP & MISO markets.
  • Actively pursuing and leveraging new business opportunities to meet sales objectives.
  • Engaging with clients, participating in industry events, and cultivating strategic partnerships to strengthen brand presence and open doors for new business ventures.
  • Advancing the development of solutions in partnership with key internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to establish additional cross-offerings and synergies in response to client and industry demands.
  • Proficient in utilizing SalesForce CRM.
  • Delivering market forecasts to support the company’s successful growth strategy in the U.S.
  • Advocating for the company’s brand within the U.S. energy markets, particularly in SPP and MISO, to enhance customer awareness and increase market share against U.S. competitors.
  • Experienced sales territory manager skilled in formulating and implementing regional growth strategies.

We are looking for an experienced National Accounts Manager to lead and expand our Demand Response sales initiatives. This role is crucial for building strong relationships with key accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and driving sales growth in the demand response sector. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of energy markets, demand response programs, and a proven sales management track record.

In this position, you will market GridBeyond’s comprehensive solutions, including Battery, Optimization, Forecasting, and Market Participation, to national accounts. You will manage key client relationships and develop strategic initiatives tailored to their unique needs. Utilizing your extensive network and industry expertise, you will attract new clients, identify market opportunities, and spearhead growth initiatives. Your duties will include formulating sales forecasts and projecting revenue in line with our strategic objectives.

This role requires a confident and proactive individual who excels in engaging with senior leadership and decision-makers. What’s this role about?

We are seeking a knowledgeable Energy Market Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will understand the ISEM energy market, with an interest in the energy transition, battery technologies, and distributed generation. This role is critical for leading our operational activity in these markets, analysing market trends, evaluating policy impacts, and providing actionable insights that support our strategic initiatives and client objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Market Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of energy markets, including electricity, renewable energy, and ancillary services.
  • Monitor and evaluate market trends, and regulatory developments affecting energy transition, battery storage, and distributed generation

Market Operations:

  • Develop and manage multi-year strategy for company in Capacity Markets prompt and future markets
  • Co-ordinate registration and entry for new assets into the Capacity and Ancillary Services

 

Batteries and Distributed Generation:

  • Analyse the growth and impact of distributed energy resources (DERs) on local and regional energy markets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess the integration of distributed generation systems, including solar, wind, and combined heat and power (CHP), supporting market entry for our customers

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and clients to discuss market insights and potential implications for energy strategies.
  • Lead the company interactions in relevant Industry Associations
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and workshops to share expertise and network with other professionals.

 

Research and Development:

  • Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and technologies in the energy sector, particularly related to energy transition and storage solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative strategies and solutions to address emerging energy challenges.

 

ESG:

  • Contribute to the company’s ESG deliverables and annual targets.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Energy Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in energy market analysis, renewable energy, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and technological advancements in battery storage and distributed generation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

As the Market Strategy and Regulatory Manager at GridBeyond, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our market strategy, focusing on response and reserve, ancillary services, local network flexibility as well as capacity market activities in the UK. You will be responsible for navigating complex regulatory landscapes, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

 

What will I be doing?

 

Responsibilities

Market Strategy Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats related to Balancing Market, Wholesale Market, capacity markets and other flexibility services in Japan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective market strategies aligned with GridBeyond’s business objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry developments to stay ahead of market changes.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes, guidelines, and standards affecting the energy industry, with a focus on response and reserve ancillary services and capacity markets.
  • Ensure that market regulatory risks are identified, and managed in customer contracts in line with company risk appetite.
  • Maintain a regulatory compliance framework to ensure GridBeyond’s adherence to all relevant regulations, and communicate this to internal operations and sales teams.

 

Market Participation:

  • Manage the company’s registration and participation in Balancing, Wholesale and capacity Markets as an Aggregation Co-ordinator.
  • Manage the company’s participation in capacity market auctions, ensuring accurate and timely submission of bids and compliance with all requirements.

 

Project Management

  • Project management of GridBeyond’s early customers, including site auditing, co-ordination with customers on market submissions, testing and support to customers troubleshooting.
  • Interface with company’s product team to support understanding of technical requirements.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including OCCTO, METI, TDGC, JEPX, TSOs and other regulatory bodies, government agencies, and industry associations.
  • Represent GridBeyond in industry forums, conferences, and working groups to enhance the company’s visibility and influence.
  • Engage with strategic customers and partners in support of business development.

 

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in electricity market in Japan.
  • Experience and understanding of the Japanese electricity market in general.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Japanese energy regulatory landscape and capacity market mechanisms.
  • Strong understanding of demand response and energy management technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel and support commercial engagement with clients and strategic partners.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical skills and use of Excel (python would be a bonus for forecasting future pricing).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects independently.
