What’s this role about?

Business development managers are responsible for driving business growth within a company. They develop a network of contacts to attract new clients, research new market opportunities and oversee growth projects, making sales projections and forecasting revenue, in line with projected income

This role requires a confident and professional self starter, a good listener, someone who is comfortable interfacing with senior level leadership, aggressive in finding and closing business, focused on meeting the customer s needs, and able to work well within a team of sales managers in a rapidly growing business. Proven success navigating complex sales will be the key to consulting with our Demand Response customers and generating proposals to meet their unique energy management needs.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Leading the development of a robust sales pipeline and business propositions in order to sell demand Response programs to large energy consumers in the PJM Market
  • Seeking and exploiting new business opportunities to achieve sales targets
  • Networking with clients, attending industry events and building strategic relationships to enhance brand capital and opportunities for new business
  • Progressing the development of solutions in collaboration with key internal stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities to create additional cross-offerings and synergies based on client/industry demand
  • Experience of working in SalesForce CRM
  • Providing market forecasting to support the company’s successful growth strategy in the US
  • Promoting the company’s brand in the US energy markets, in particular PJM, to drive customer awareness and grow market share relative to US competitors
  • Experienced sales territory manager, able to develop and execute regional growth plans

 

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

  • A strong sales and business development background with an ability to apply business development techniques to develop and shape long-term opportunities to sale
  • Ability to manage and forecast sales cycles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to confidently present sophisticated technical concepts to a wide variety of stakeholders including operations managers, engineers, facility managers and CFOs
  • Ability to influence and negotiate throughout complex, technical sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders
  • Respected and trusted in the industry with knowledge of industry best practices
  • Strategic thinker, with an operational delivery focus
  • First rate customer management skills, coupled with strong listening and communications skills
  • Professional individual – articulate, honest, innovative, client-service orientated and dedicated to improving the energy markets for clients

  • Existing relationships / contacts with US based industrial and commercial consumers is desirable, but not essential

What’s this role about?

Financial Accounting– Process Transformation Lead is a broad role which will require an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the group’s finance function. Given the company’s geographic expansion and exciting growth trajectory, the successful candidate will play a leading role in refining our processes to ensure that they are best in class – as appropriate to support a dynamic, progressive scaling company.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also play a role in the day-to-day operational finance activities of the company – activities to include financial reporting, forecasting, working capital management and tax.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Reviewing, refining and supplementing the documentation which governs the group’s existing various finance processes (with support from the Group Head of Finance)
  • Researching and analysing the requirements of internal and external stakeholders to define processes for new business offerings or to support our activities in new geographies
  • Working with other functions (especially IT) to identify opportunities to make our processes more robust, efficient and scalable
  • Support the Head of Finance in driving agreed upon process changes across the finance function and indeed the wider business
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts, KPI files and related financial analysis
  • Supporting the financial controller with cash flow forecasting and the management of cash
  • Contributing to the Group’s 5 year financial plan and other financial models
  • Identifying potential control weaknesses and suggesting appropriate mitigating procedures
  • Preparing analyses and papers to support the group’s accounting treatment of complex transactions or areas where judgment is required
  • Providing guidance to less experienced colleagues and suggesting suitable cross-training initiatives
  • Supporting the financial controller with ensuring compliance with the Group’s various tax obligations
  • Other ad-hoc requests depending on business need.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential with appropriate post qualification experience

  • Up to date, working knowledge of IFRS, FRS 102 and financial audit approaches
  • Experience reviewing business processes in a large corporate or PLC setting
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work under time pressure during busy periods for the business
  • Experienced in MS Office
  • Ability to handle and protect confidential documents

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Originator to join our team. The Originator will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and originating new carbon and BESS optimisation deals in accordance with company guidelines and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of success in origination or trading.

 

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities by building relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Build and lead a profit pillar around carbon and emissions trading, including: trading; risk management; contractual and commercial structure; customer targeting, marketing and sales approach.
  • Evaluate and contract new BESS and SaaS deals, ensuring they meet company standards and risk criteria.
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals and reports to senior management.
  • Manage the tender process for front-of-the-meter assets, ensuring timely and high quality responses.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including data science and forecasting, legal, compliance, trading, and operations, to ensure seamless transaction processing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in origination, or a related role within the energy industry.

As the Market Strategy and Regulatory Manager at GridBeyond, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our market strategy, focusing on response and reserve, ancillary services, local network flexibility as well as capacity market activities in the UK. You will be responsible for navigating complex regulatory landscapes, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Market Strategy Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats related to Balancing Market, Wholesale Market, capacity markets and other flexibility services in Japan.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective market strategies aligned with GridBeyond’s business objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry developments to stay ahead of market changes.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes, guidelines, and standards affecting the energy industry, with a focus on response and reserve ancillary services and capacity markets.
  • Ensure that market regulatory risks are identified, and managed in customer contracts in line with company risk appetite.
  • Maintain a regulatory compliance framework to ensure GridBeyond’s adherence to all relevant regulations, and communicate this to internal operations and sales teams.

 

Market Participation:

  • Manage the company’s registration and participation in Balancing, Wholesale and capacity Markets as an Aggregation Co-ordinator.
  • Manage the company’s participation in capacity market auctions, ensuring accurate and timely submission of bids and compliance with all requirements.

 

Project Management

  • Project management of GridBeyond’s early customers, including site auditing, co-ordination with customers on market submissions, testing and support to customers troubleshooting.
  • Interface with company’s product team to support understanding of technical requirements.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including OCCTO, METI, TDGC, JEPX, TSOs and other regulatory bodies, government agencies, and industry associations.
  • Represent GridBeyond in industry forums, conferences, and working groups to enhance the company’s visibility and influence.
  • Engage with strategic customers and partners in support of business development.

 

What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in electricity market in Japan.
  • Experience and understanding of the Japanese electricity market in general.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Japanese energy regulatory landscape and capacity market mechanisms.
  • Strong understanding of demand response and energy management technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel and support commercial engagement with clients and strategic partners.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical skills and use of Excel (python would be a bonus for forecasting future pricing).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects independently.

What’s this role about?

  • The successful candidate for this role will be tasked with enabling GridBeyond to grow a portfolio of: Standalone and co-located utility-scale BESS and other generation assets; route-to-market and trading services; and, SaaS.
  • Lead our Front of the meter propositions in Japan, participating in webinars, seminars and exhibitions, to grow our brand recognition and thought leadership activities
  • Supporting our continued success as a market-leading aggregation & optimisation service provider.
  • Japan is a fast growing market for utility-scale batteries and the successful candidate will sell the GridBeyond products and services to batteries utilized in other territories.
  • The role will offer significant scope for growth for the successful candidate.
  • The candidate must have a high standard of spoken and written English to all for effective working across regions.

 

What will I be doing?

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the opportunities across all available markets to maximize revenue for BESS target sector identified above in Japan.
  • Develop and progressing a sales pipeline in Salesforce of existing operational and to be built assets in key states.
  • Organizing face-to-face and remote meetings with key targets, and other market participants to enable sales success, especially BESS manufacturers and developers to forge strategic partnerships.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision makers and manage relationships with senior stakeholders using recognisable engagement mapping techniques such as Miller Heiman or equivalent.
  • Support the wider business understanding the Japan Battery market and the required product evolution to support sales success.
  • Work with your direct management team to originate PPA solutions to support business success.
  • Build qualitative strategic account plans to clearly present a path to success.
  • Supporting and progressing the development of market solutions in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure CRM system is fully updated and all information pertaining to sales leads and activity is entered at least weekly.
  • Run through territory planning calls and weekly sales reviews from CRM database highlighting risks and opportunities from activity entered into the CRM system.
  • Ensure that all monthly sales review material is in place for the Leadership team to evaluate at the monthly sales review.
  • Identifying opportunities to create additional cross-offerings and synergies based on client /industry demand.

 

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • A strong understanding of the Japanese UK energy markets, and experience of Power Trading would be a significant advantage.
  • A proven track record of delivering results within the Japanese Energy industry.
  • A self starter who is able to work of their own initiative to enable business success.
  • Commercial aptitude, with experience contributing to business strategy by identifying and pursuing market opportunities.
  • The ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders including those in sales and operational functions and most importantly to board level with actionable summary reporting.
