SuperValu uses GridBeyond’s technology to automatically control energy consumption and participate in energy markets
SuperValu, part of the Musgraves group, is Ireland’s largest grocery and food retailer. With over 22% of the Irish market share*, overtaking Tesco, Lidl and Aldi, it is vital for SuperValu to remain competitive on both price and service.
SuperValu uses GridBeyond’s technology to automatically control energy consumption and participate in energy markets.
By partnering with GridBeyond, more than 30 of their retail sites are making significant savings through peak avoidance strategies, and have optimised all refrigerated assets on their sites. They have also taken advantage of automated smart lighting and HVAC heating/cooling controls. Key to the success of this project was ensuring that neither customer experience or product integrity was compromised, which was achieved through GridBeyond’s vigilant audit process.
SuperValu now benefit from:
- Reduced carbon footprint
- New revenues via grid balancing services
- Enhanced savings through peak avoidance
- Energy optimisation on all connected assets
- Energy performance monitoring, reporting and benchmarking
- Fully financed installation
- Full operational integrity
