GridBeyond appoints a new Market Strategy and Regulatory Manager to support company’s growth in the Australian energy market.

Mark Lee will join the rapidly expanding Australian Team based out of Sydney and managed by Sales Director Lisa Balk to support its growth in the Australian Energy Market. Lisa has already made her presence felt in the Australian flexibility market, securing the first Australian DSR contracts at the end of 2022 and helping grow the potential for more Australian companies to take control of their energy costs and take advantage of revenue generating opportunities.

Mark brings with him 19 years of experience in retail and wholesale energy markets in Australia, specifically with work in retailers, generators, metering providers, and the market operator AEMO. He will bring this experience to support GridBeyond’s growth in Australia in optimising flexibility from Industrial and Commercial businesses, and their assets; and also bringing GridBeyond’s world leading trading cockpit to support battery developers to maximise the revenues from their assets.

On joining GridBeyond, Mark Lee Market Strategy and Regulatory Manager said:

“The National Electricity Market is planning for huge growth in electricity generation from renewables in the coming years and is introducing new mechanisms to enable this, which pushes at the same time the demand for flexibility.

“I’m glad to join GridBeyond and assist organisations to optimise their assets while supporting the transition to a future sourced by 100% renewables”.

GridBeyond Managing Director Mark Davis commented:

“It’s great to have Mark on board. The Australian energy market has been very active lately with many investment announcements on renewables energy storage and trading. In addition, AEMO’s recent Integrated System Plan has highlighted the need for a national energy plan based on renewables and energy storage and able to support a more resilient grid, with the country expected to generate half of its electricity needs from renewables within three years and is introducing new mechanisms to enable this.

“As wind and solar farms multiply, the need for back-up services that would be required to balance the power system will increase too”.

GridBeyond Director of Sales -Australia Lisa Balk commented:

“We are delighted to bring in a specialist with the experience of Mark.  He will increase the market knowledge and expertise for our team in Australia, to support our customer to maximise their value in the use their energy, and ensure that GridBeyond brings the most innovative, and advanced flexibility offerings to them”.
