Western Australia Demand Response
Earn revenue from your demand flexibility, by providing Non Co-Optimised Essential System Services for grid emergencies.
Demand response (DR) is a cost-free opportunity for businesses to earn money by reducing electricity demand for brief periods of time in
response to grid stress, instability, or high prices.
In Western Australia, the market was reformed in October 2023, and from this date market participants are able to offer energy and a number of frequency control essential system services (FCESS) for co-optimised dispatch.
These FCESS services include Regulation, Contingency Reserve, and a Rate of Change of Frequency (ROCOF) Control Service. But not all ESS can be co-optimised, and not all of the services required to maintain the safety, reliability, and security of the electricity grid can be known in advance. Enter Non Co-Optimised Essential System Services (NCESS).
