Connecting the points: GridBeyond’s technology

Connecting the points: GridBeyond’s technology
At GridBeyond, every element of our platform plays a vital role in creating a smarter, more flexible, and more sustainable energy system. TouchPoint, CentrePoint and ViewPoint are at the core of this mission, providing the orchestration and insight that help our customers turn energy challenges into opportunities. In this article we explore what each part does and the latest updates.

TouchPoint: edge intelligence

At GridBeyond, innovation at the edge is central to our mission of building a smarter, more flexible, and sustainable energy system. TouchPoint embodies this vision, acting as the primary edge device that links distributed energy resources with the intelligence of the GridBeyond platform.

The latest release of TouchPoint delivers a major step forward in performance, responsiveness, and cost efficiency. Beyond monitoring and control, it strengthens customers’ ability to unlock value from their assets while ensuring reliability and compliance.

Key advancements include:
On-board Static Frequency Response: removing the need for external controllers and cutting relay times, enabling faster, more stable grid support
Configurable CT ratios: allowing one device to support a wide range of load sizes, reducing costs and simplifying deployment list
20ms sampling capability: ensuring precise detection and compliance for frequency response markets
Universal data concentrator functionality: consolidating information from multiple sources through pulse counting, lowering installation costs
Remote reboot: improving service efficiency and reducing downtime without site visits

Additional upgrades include enhanced analog I/O (eliminating external ADAM modules), a re-engineered GPS timestamping system for greater accuracy, and improvements to the sampling engine’s stability.

CentrePoint: the orchestration hub
Where TouchPoint delivers intelligence at the edge, CentrePoint provides the command layer that unifies, and coordinates distributed energy assets. Acting as the central hub, it manages demand, storage, and generation portfolios in real time, ensuring resources are deployed where and when they create the greatest value.

With its multi-market optimisation engine, real-time visibility, and integration pathways into enterprise systems, CentrePoint empowers customers to maximise returns, minimise risk, and align energy strategies with wider business objectives. It remains the reliable, resilient, and scalable control point at the heart of our platform.

ViewPoint: advancing actionable intelligence

ViewPoint transforms operational and market data into actionable insights, enabling businesses to understand performance, risks, and opportunities with clarity.

The latest release of ViewPoint is designed to offer users deeper insights and easier access to the data that matters most. By providing detailed information on each asset, as well as carbon and energy reporting, ViewPoint enables customers to see not just how their systems operate but how they contribute to both commercial performance and sustainability goals, helping businesses make sense of complex consumption patterns and system responses, ensuring they can act with confidence in a dynamic environment.

For organisations participating in Demand Response (DR) programs, ViewPoint provides a clear view of performance. Customers can identify their load profiles, track event responses, and assess the impact of their participation in real time. The addition of revenue viewers further enhances this by linking performance directly to financial outcomes, creating a transparent line of sight from action to value.

The new ViewPoint features are initially available in the ERCOT and SPP markets in the US, with planned expansion into Ireland and the UK in early 2026.
