Interview: “The energy mix is very different […] creating both huge challenges and huge opportunities for I&C businesses and grid operators”
“The consumption of energy does not need to be a passive thing” explained Wayne Muncaster, Managing Director at Gridbeyond, during his recent interview with Energyst Media.
“Energy sources have a very different profile to the large thermal generators of the past. As energy costs continue to grow, with a further 40% increase expected over the next four years, the prices of energy technology are actually coming down significantly. This makes it easier for energy users to take supply into their own hands by investing in self-generation, battery energy storage, and roof-top solar in the residential market place”
“The energy mix is very different nowadays and much more complex, creating both huge challenges and huge opportunities for I&C businesses and grid operators. The consumption of energy does not need to be a passive thing”
The interview, available above in full, was recorded during the recent Energyst Event in Birmingham. GridBeyond joined suppliers, generators, technology and services providers, representatives from National Grid, regulatory bodies, distribution and transmission networks, industrial and commercial energy consumers, journalists and industry experts to showcase the most advanced technology solutions and discuss the future of the evolving markets.
Wayne was a speaker at the ‘Unconference’ fringe event by ICON, the Industrial & Commercial Operations Network, which provided an informal setting for experts to speak and answer questions on some of the industry’s burning topics. In his presentation, ‘Demystifying DSR’, Wayne spoke about the current trends in the complex energy sector, and how energy users can make the most of markets opportunities and future-proof their businesses.
