Irish Prime Minister and GridBeyond discuss business expansion in Japan

GridBeyond held a meeting with Mr. Micheál Martin, Taoiseach (the Irish title for prime minister), on July 2 at the Embassy of Ireland in Japan during his official visit.

This meeting marks the first in-person dialogue since 2022, when Mr. Martin visited Tokyo as Taoiseach, also having a bilateral meeting the Japanese Prime Minister on that occasion. The two parties discussed GridBeyond’s progress in the Japanese market and shared insights on the company’s future vision as a pioneering energy tech company originating from Ireland.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin commented:
“It is a great source of pride to see Irish-founded companies achieving tangible results in major international markets like Japan. GridBeyond’s commitment to decarbonisation and energy optimisation through AI and advanced technologies embodies the spirit of Irish innovation. I look forward to seeing the company continue to build valuable partnerships between Ireland and Japan and lead the way in digital transformation across both markets.”

GridBeyond’s Japan Managing Director, Atsushi Ito, also shared his thoughts:
“It was a great honour to meet with the Taoiseach and report on our developments in Japan. I felt first-hand the strength of the Irish government’s support for our local efforts, which gives us great encouragement. Since the previous meeting in 2022, our presence in Japan has grown steadily, and we are now entering a significant phase of expansion. We remain committed to advancing our business in Japan with integrity and consistency, under the spirit of collaboration between Ireland and Japan.”

GridBeyond Japan is delivering value for both the front-of-the-meter (FTM) and behind-the-meter (BTM) in this rapidly growing market, leveraging grid-scale battery storage, demand response and AI-driven energy asset optimisation to meet the country’s accelerating flexibility needs.

GridBeyond offers an advanced integrated platform that uses highly accurate forecasting and digital twins for asset management and AI-driven market evaluation to maximise revenue and reduce operational costs. With zero upfront investment and a performance-based business model, the solution provides low entry barriers and reduced risk for partner companies.

Looking ahead, GridBeyond will continue to draw upon its international expertise to deliver flexibility services tailored to Japan’s unique regulatory landscape and market needs. The company remains committed to supporting both decarbonisation and economic efficiency as a trusted energy transition partner.
