GridBeyond continues global expansion by appointing two key industry leaders in Canada

GridBeyond has hired Kareem Nakhla, Business Development Director, and Robert Koblinsky, Regional Storage Director of Sales to focus on demand response, Global Adjustment management, and batteries as a service offering for Canadian energy markets confirming GridBeyond’s goal to supporting businesses in pursuit to net zero.

Toronto – GridBeyond has appointed Kareem Nakhla as Business Development Director and Robert Koblinsky, Regional Storage Director of Sales in Canada for its fast-expanding global team based in Toronto. Kareem will support C&I customers in generating revenues, savings and meeting their net zero objectives. Customers assets will be connected to Point, GridBeyond AI-powered energy automated technology platform.

The Point platform connects generation, load and battery storage assets maximizing monetization revenues in energy markets. It enables businesses to sell and purchase energy in wholesale markets, generating cost savings through peak avoidance and generate new revenues by taking advantage of electricity price volatility. It also enables participation in grid balancing and ancillary services.

On joining GridBeyond, Kareem said:

“I am excited to joining GridBeyond and to bring my multi-sector experience, drive growth and impact at this groundbreaking company leading the way in the transition to a smarter, cleaner energy future”.

The team also welcomed Robert Koblinsky, who brings over 10 years of experience in the renewables sector.

Robert Koblinsky commented:

“I am glad to be part of GridBeyond team at a very exciting time for energy storage and renewables in Canada. I am looking forward to supporting the expansion of GridBeyond’s business in the Canadian market and promoting sustainable energy services to its customers”.

Joe Hayden, VP Revenue at GridBeyond commented:

“We are delighted to have Kareem and Robert onboard to look after our C&I customers and expand into the Canadian market. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had a deep effect on energy markets, but what’s important when considering the energy system of the future is that decentralized or behind-the-meter options like solar, batteries, and demand response all utilized to their fullest value to offset the need for additional grid generation capacity, especially with the retirements expected in Canada in the next few years.”

GridBeyond entered the North American energy market in 2020 in ERCOT and since then has quickly expanded to PJM, MISO, CAISO and IESO. GridBeyond provides a powerful combination of technological excellence, unparalleled controls capability in demand response, AI machine learning, consultative market alignment, and unrivalled grid services expertise that enables its partners and clients to earn the highest potential incentives from RTO/ISO’s while supporting the wider electricity grid transition to more green, yet intermittent renewables, helping make the leap to a greener future.

GridBeyond delivers energy services, new revenues, enhanced savings, strengthened operations and sustainability to over 500 C&I sites equaling over 1500 MW’s worldwide, to some of the planet’s best-loved brands, to Japan, Australia, Canada, the US, UK , and Ireland.
